Jeanne du Barry

May 14, 2023 14:00

🎞️ Maïwenn's latest film will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival. You will find several pieces of the House, including the famous "Louis XV" service. But do you really know the woman who succeeded the Marquise de Pompadour in the heart of the king? Despite her commoner origins, Jeanne Bécu became a countess and then mistress of Louis XV. As he was aging, he found a new taste for life with this ravishing young woman and succumbed to her freshness and her celestial blue eyes. Passionate about the arts, Jeanne Du Barry was a generous patron, commissioning paintings and precious objects, such as this exceptional table, created by cabinetmaker Martin Carlin and painter Charles-Nicolas Dodin. She also was a gourmet. Reigning over the Versailles kitchens, she asked for a cauliflower soup. Seasoned with broth and melted with cream and egg yolk, the recipe was a delight to the king: thus was born the Dubarry cream. At court, one whispered that it was as soft and creamy as the complexion of the one who inspired it 🥰
