It's time!

25 November, 2023 14:00

⏰ It's time - Yes, but what time? Whether you're the host or the guest, timing is everything! In France, 1 p.m. for lunch, 8-8.30 p.m. for dinner, 4.30 p.m. for tea, 7 p.m. for cocktails... and the famous quarter-hour of courtesy that allows the host to breathe a few minutes before the guests arrive if everything is ready, or to pull out all the stops to finish preparing. Bear in mind, however, that for lunches and more formal ceremonies such as weddings, punctuality is a must! Be careful not to let your guests sit down to dinner more than 1 hour after their arrival. If it's the hosts who are calling the shots at dinner, as a guest, be receptive, as certain signals are subtle. Are you offered refreshment at the end of the evening? It's time to slip away. On the other hand, if it's you who'd like to leave first, discreetly greet your hosts, but don't interrupt the conversation, and make a dash for it!
