Scandinavian Christmas

24 December, 2023 14:00

❄️ Head to Scandinavia for a Nordic Christmas! At this time of year, the day lasts only a few hours... Fortunately, a large savory buffet awaits guests, with gravlax salmon, marinated herrings and cold salads. Meat dishes include meatballs, smoked lamb chops, prune-filled duck and roast pork. Caramelized potatoes and red cabbage are the perfect accompaniment. Drinks include dark beer or glögg, a mulled wine recipe. For dessert, Danish pancakes in the shape of balls, Swedish spice cookies, flaky star-shaped tarts and the famous rice pudding, flavored with cinnamon in Finland or cherry in Denmark.Last but not least, meticulous decoration for a warm and cosy home: a luminous star in front of the window, a seven-branched candlestick, the Advent candle and, of course, the straw goat called Julbock. Originally, the goat was a frightening figure associated with the god Thor, whose chariot was pulled by two of them. Nowadays, he's happily become a lot cuter and hands out presents 🎁
