The new Trianon décor bears the hallmarks of a great classic... revisited and surprising! In 1810, Napoleon, who had always dreamed of settling in the Palace of Versailles, commissioned 80,000 meters of fabric from the silk manufacturers of Lyon, thus creating a rich and inspiring decorative repertoire. The order was delivered two years later, just three months before Napoleon’s exile to Saint Helena. As a result, the fabrics were never used and have been preserved ever since by the Mobilier National. With Trianon, the Bernardaud house offers a fresh perspective on this inventory of forms. The combination of checkerboards tied with rosettes and designs featuring a festive scene, a butterfly or a flower, gives it a great deal of fantasy and freedom of tone, far removed from the image we have of the Empire style. This unfinished ornamental reverie now comes to life on a service that offers a wide combinatorial range on the table, for an ensemble as cheerful as it is shimmering.
