The Breast Bowl is one of the emblematic pieces from the porcelain service commissioned by Louis XVI for the Rambouillet dairy, built in 1787 for his wife, Marie-Antoinette.A refined symbol of the 18th century, with its decoration inspired by Etruscan motifs, it represented not only purity and rustic simplicity, but also fertility and the art of living well. This reinterpretation preserves the iconic original form while freeing it from its historic decoration. In its place, the porcelain biscuit’s purity is revealed, delicately tinted in soft pastel hues: pink, and blue. A subtle balance between heritage and modernity. Originally intended for drinking milk, the Breast Bowl has become a versatile object today:

• A singular table piece,

• A sculptural decorative object,

• A cultural symbol rich with history.

This bowl celebrates femininity, softness, and nature, while paying tribute to a unique moment in French history. It appeals to collectors, design enthusiasts, and lovers of timeless, understated luxury.

Advice and care

When you choose Bernardaud, you choose superior quality. Our porcelain is practical and ideal for everyday use, because it is dishwasher-safe, oven-safe and microwave-safe - unless it is decorated with a precious metal. All Bernardaud porcelain pieces - dinnerware sets, jewelry, candleholders, lamps, vases and other decorative objects - are very easy to clean using the soft side of a scrub sponge, warm water and regular dishwashing liquids. However, make sure never to use the abrasive side of the sponge.
