🍓 World record for the strawberries by Chardin, sold for 20.5 million euros! 🔎 But do you know the history of this fruit? In the 17th century, a Frenchman with a predestined name, Amédée-François Frézier, had the mission to "observe" the Spanish fortifications in Chile and Peru on behalf of the King of France. He discovers a strawberry plant whose strawberries were much larger than those of the wild strawberry plants, the only species known in Europe at the time. As a passionate botanist, he brings back to France five plants. But unfortunately, not a single strawberry grew! And then one day, thanks to the fortuitous proximity with a Virginia strawberry plant brought back from Quebec, the miracle happened. From this natural crossing, a new species was born which is at the origin of all modern species. At Versailles, Louis XIV was very fond of strawberries and demanded to have them on his table from March onwards. It was thus decided that four squares would be spared for growing strawberries in the King's garden 👑!
