ZAO WOU-KI

Through his native culture, Zao Wou-Ki, the most French of all Chinese painters, is completely wedded to Chinese tradition. Yet with a half century of works realized in Paris, he is also inexorably tied to the history of contemporary Western art. Few artists form a bridge between the two traditions, two writing styles (i.e. calligraphy) and two worlds that are so separate.
