MARCO BRAMBILLA

Born in Milan, Marco Brambilla is a video artist who lives and works in New York. He is best-known for his elaborate video-collages which re-contextualize found imagery into a celebration of the spectacle. His approach draws on art history in general and classical art in particular updated with references to current pop culture.
In terms of esthetics, his latest work embodies a Baroque aesthetic verging on visual overload, his video-collages are often a satire of the subject matter and can be interpreted as apocalyptic or Utopian in nature.
Represented in the United States by the Christopher Grimes Gallery, his work has been exhibited in major collections worldwide, including the Kunsthalle Bern, The Guggenheim Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the ARCO foundation, Madrid, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York.
Brambilla also brought his collision of collage to the mainstream with a notable one-minute video for the Kanye West song Power in 2010.
