🌿 In France, May 1st is the lily of the valley festival and this, since the Renaissance when Charles IX instituted the practice of offering each spring a sprig of lily of the valley to the ladies of the court. Although the bell plant has been known for a long time, it was not until the 18th century that flora was scientifically classified, thanks to the Swedish botanist Carl Von Linné.
